The Self - Mannaz [22 May 2007|10:50am]
The starting point is the self. Its essence is water. Only clarity, willingness to change, are effective now. A correct relationship to yourself is primary, for from it flow all possible correct relationships with others and with the Divine.

Remain modest - that is the Oracle's counsel. Regardless of how great may be your merit, be yielding, devoted and moderate, for then you have true direction for your way of life.

Be in the world but not of it. That is implicit here. And yet do not be closed, narrow or judging. Remain receptive to impulses flowing from the Divine within and without. Strive to live the ordinary life in a non-ordinary way. Remember at all time what is coming to be and passing away, and focus on that which abides. Nothing less is called for from you now. This is a time of major growth and rectification and, as a rule, rectification must come before progress.

This is not a time to seek credit for accomplishments or to focus on results. Rather, be content to do your task for the task's sake. This is more a problem for those whose eyes are always on the goal than it is for those who have not forgotten how to play and can more easily lose themselves in doing the work for its own sake. Herein lies the secret of experiencing a true present.

If you take the Rune of the Self and cut it down the middle, you get the Rune for Joy with its mirror image. There is a subtle caution here against carelessness. The dancing acrobatic energy of balancing is called for now - the Self is required to balance the self. Nothing in excess was the second phrase written over the gateway to the temple at Delphi. The first counsel was know theyself. With these words, the alphabet of the Viking Runes begins.

it really continues to amaze me how provincial australians can be. while i realise we are located far far away from the majority of most people on this planet, you think that would give us more incentive to connect with others and broaden our experience of the world and each other rather than isolating ourselves in a vacuum of narcissistic and cultural myopia. i am talking about the performance scene in both sydney and melbourne - the unwillingness to share and feel secure and comfortable enough in our own individual performance to celebrate each other on a collective level. the support and encouragement just isn't there. i am SO bored of hearing people wanting to OWN and PROTECT their signature moves. if you are a public performer then wouldnt you want, indeed expect, other people to see what you are doing? even if the viewer is also a performer in the same genre... why don't these people GET that a signature move is just that... something that can only ever be displayed with its own unique style and energy as defined by the person who is executing it... like a signature! it wasn't until i started plugging into the global hoop community through online exploration and 3D travel that i realised there are alternatives to such exclusive small-mindedness. thankfully there are some very cool people on this planet whose mission it is to SHARE the JOY. to ENCOURAGE others in learning what they know. to get together and bounce off each other to have fun and hopefully learn something new about themselves and others. mostly i have found these people in north america. necessarily i have made it my mission to germinate this consciousness in australia. a MASSIVE thank you to my american hoop family who have showed me that it is possible to own your own groove AND exchange all that you know and do. and an even bigger thank you to my hoop family in australia who have supported, encouraged and participated in what seems to be a new approach to the hoopla in this country. And to those who happen to read this who are in the 'signature move camp' - get over it! we are NOT watching to steal your moves. we love what you do and hope you can one day return the same respect and admiration. EVOLVE!

the flow [17 Apr 2007|09:22am]
the lucidity in my dreams in increasing with the awareness of its possibility. again last night a situation of realising i was dreaming so flying then the awareness that i can create the story from then on so a very saucy interlude with hot babe in sneaky secret room at the back of everything. WOW. i love this level of dreaming. its like directing film / high class porn. sitting on the cliffs yesterday watching birds fly over the sea definitely helped to instil the flight factor into my mind.

the runes also are creating clarity and direction.

Tuesday 27th March 2007

Ehwaz - Movement (Reversed)

Ehwaz is a rune of transit, transition and movement; of physical shifts, new dwelling places, new attitudes or new life. It also signifies movement in the sense of improving or bettering any situation.

There is about this rune a sense of gradual development and steady progress, with the accompanying notion of slow growth through numerous shifts and changes. This could apply to the growth of a business or to the development of an idea. A relationship also needs to undergo changes and transformations if it is to maintain growth and life. Personal moral effort and persevering steadfastness are called for when you draw the rune Ehwaz.

Let it be said this way: ‘As I cultivate my own nature, all else follows.’ This rune’s symbol is the horse. From Bronze Age artefacts we find the sun linked to the horse; the horse both symbolized the sun and was regarded as drawing it across the sky. Here, this rune is saying, you have progressed far enough to feel a measure of safety, of security in your position. It is time to turn again and face the future reassured and prepared to share the good fortune that comes. The sharing is significant since it relates to the power of the sun to foster life and illuminate all things with its light.

Reversed – Movement that appears to block. Be certain that what you are doing – or not doing – is timely. There are no missed opportunities; we have simply to recognise that not all possibilities are open to us. The opportunity at hand may be precisely to avoid action. If you are feeling at a loss unclear about the need to act, consider what is timely and appropriate to your nature and remember: what is yours will come to you.

Wednesday 28th March

Eihwaz – Assertive Powers – Yew Tree

As we are tested we find the power to avert blockage and defeat. At the same time, we develop in ourselves an aversion to the conduct that creates stressful situations in our lives.

There appears to be a blockage in your path, but even a delay may prove beneficial. Do not be overly eager to press forward. This is not the time or situation in which you can make your influence felt. Patience is the counsel Eihwaz offers. Nothing hectic, no acting needy or lusting after a desired outcome. This rune speaks to the difficulties that arise at the beginning of a new life. Often it announces a time of waiting: for a spring to fill up with water, for fruit to ripen on the bough.

Perseverance and foresight are called for here. The ability to foresee consequences before you act is the mark of a profound person. Avert anticipated difficulties through right action. Even more than we are doers, we are deciders. Once our decision is clear, the doing becomes effortless, for then the universe supports and empowers our action.

Receiving the rune Eihwaz, you are put on notice that through inconvenience and discomfort, growth is promoted. This may well be a trying time; certainly it is a meaningful one. Set your house in order, tend to business and wait on the Will of Heaven

Thursday 12th April - Ehwaz (not reversed)

Tuesday 17th April - Berkana - Growth - Rebirth - Birch Tree
The Rune of life process, another of the Cycle Runes, Berkana denotes that form of fertility which promotes growth both symbolically and actually. The growth may occur in affairs of the world, family matters, one's own relationship to one's Self or to the Divine. This is a 'leading to' Rune, in that it leads to blossoming and ripening.

What is called for here is going into things deeply, with care and awareness. Berkana is concerned with the power of influencing development and with the flow of beings into their new forms. Its action is gentle and penetrating and pervasive.

First disperse resistance, then accomplish the work. For this to happen, your will must be clear and controlled. In regard to this issue, your motives must be clear and correct. Any dark corners should be cleansed; this must be carried out diligently and sometimes with expert help. Modesty, patience, fairness and generosity are called for here. Once resistance is dispersed and rectification carried out and seen to hold firm, then, through steadfastness and right attitude, the blossoming can occur.

AND

The Unknowable - the God Odin - The Blank Rune

Blank is the end, blank the beginning. This is the Rune of total trust and should be taken as exciting evidence of your most immediate contact with your own true destiny which, time and again, rises like the phoenix from the ashes of what we call fate.

The Blank Rune can portend a death. But that death is usually symbolic, and may relate to any part of your life as you are living it now. Relinquishing control is the ultimate challenge of the Spiritual Warrior.

Here the Unknowable informs you that is it is in motion in your life. In that blankness is held undiluted potential. At the same time pregnant and empty, it comprehends the totality of being, all that is to be actualised.

Drawing the Blank Rune brings to the surface our deepest fears. Will I fail? Will i be abandoned? Will it be taken away? And yet our highest good, our truest possibilities and all our fertile dreams are held within this blankness.

Willingness and permitting are what this Rune requires, for how can you exercise control over what is not yet in form? This Rune often calls for no less an act of courage than the empty-handed leap into the void. Drawing it is a direct test of Faith.

In one sense, the Blank Rune represents the path of karma - the sum total of what you have done and the limits on what you are and will become. At the same time, this Rune teaches that the very debts of old karma shift and evolve. Nothing is predestined; there is nothing that cannot be avoided. And if, indeed, there are matters hidden by the gods, you need only remember: what beckons is the creative power of the unknown.

Whenever you draw the Blank Rune, take heart: know that the work of self-challenge is progressing in your life.

Hawk Totem [21 Mar 2007|11:52pm]
"Red Tailed Hawk Affirmation Card: I am healed and empowered through my visions. My life moves forward.

There are many types of Hawks found throughout the world and each has medicine specific to their individual types. Yet there also characteristics that are specific to all Hawks and those are the focus here.

Hawks are visionaries and messengers. As a totem they help to open the higher chakras so that we may hear and see the visions and messages that Spirit and the Universe are always sending our way. There is never a moment when the Universe is not trying to get a message through to us but we are so often too busy or unaware of what it is we need to be watching for! Hawk helps us to not only be aware that we are receiving a message but how to interpret them. The realm of symbols is also the realm of Hawk for Hawk is able to soar high above the earth to soar on the breath of Spirit, to commune with Spirit and thus understand through the intuitive level what the message means and with their keen eyesight, how to implement it once they return to earth through seeing the broader picture below.
Many of the messages Hawk may bring are about freeing yourself of thoughts and beliefs that are limiting your ability to soar above your life and gain a greater perspective. If one remains earthbound, then the possibilities of life are limited! It is this ability to soar high above to catch a glimpse of the bigger picture that is one of the aspects of Hawk medicine that makes it so valuable: If one is undergoing a difficult passage to know that just over the next hill is freedom and liberation if one keeps going can be a Godsend in supporting the person to keep moving forward! Likewise, if the path is not appropriate, Hawk Medicine can alert one to this and point out a far more favourable path.
Hawk medicine unites Heaven and Earth. Because of their ability to soar, they are able to reach up to the heavens to extract needed information and bring it back to earth. Much of this information is also very practical for use on a daily basis! It is not only higher concepts or ideas that are relayed, but also information we need to make our material or mundane lives more prosperous and fulfilling. For those who have difficulty attracting financial well being due to false or negative beliefs about money and success, Hawk can help to understand the true spiritual intent and purpose behind money and guide one in establishing new beliefs that are more joyful and abundant in nature.
Hawk can alert us to those times when we should NOT take action because we do not yet have all the information we need. For example, someone is thinking of about becoming involved in a relationship, personal or business, yet they get the feeling that something is "not quite right". This needs to be heeded and Hawk sent forth to gather the appropriate information to help the person make the best choice. Sometimes the person finds that Hawk was telling them to steer clear for very good reasons!
Hawk can also help balance those who are more attuned to the lunar sides of their nature and have trouble expressing the solar side in pursuit of their goals. It helps the person to activate the positive aspects of their sun sign and to balance it with the lunar needs.

Hawk people have their own unique challenges in life. Often they feel misunderstood in that when they attempt to deliver an important message others may shy away from it or respond with anger. Sometimes the messages may not be what the other person really wants to hear and yet the Hawk person feels duty bound to relay the message, no matter the consequences. It is important however that Hawk people do be aware of how they are presenting the messages they receive. They need more than many others to try and deliver the messages as gently as they can, only becoming more forceful if their inner guidance absolutely says it is needed. Sometimes simply thinking through for a time what needs to be said can help Hawk medicine people find just the right words to use that will make all the difference and in this they should be encouraged to take their time and soar above for a while before speaking their truth.
Hawk medicine people like many who carry strong predator totems may be shunned by others who sense and fear their inner power. Others may sense that this is a person who can see straight through them and as many folks think in terms of judging things as being good or bad, they are afraid that the Hawk person will see who they "really" are and so they strike first in an attempt to keep the Hawk person at bay. Hawk people need to learn how to veil their energy somewhat, not as an attempt to deceive others but to allow people to get to know them and understand that Hawk has no interest in judging others. Often these people have seen so much of the best and worst in life that they find they have no need to judge. All is part and parcel of Spirit's plan and if Spirit sees fit not to judge, why should the Hawk person?

Some Hawk people may have a tendency because of their vast ability to see clear through to the heart of things to become arrogant and this should be avoided because it keeps them earthbound as well as turning other people off! Often this starts as confusion on the part of the Hawk person who cannot understand why others seem unable to be as aware of the larger picture and their own issues and projections. Especially when the Hawk person also has Mercury in Aquarius or in Mercury in aspect to Uranus which further enhances their ability to see and know, they may fail to understand that others are not as well developed yet in these areas and blurt out what they see and know without thinking of how it may impact another person. If they can keep in mind that their talents and abilities are gifts they have been given and that others carry medicine that the Hawk person may be weak in expressing it helps them to stay focused on Spirit as the true messenger and that they are the Hollow Bones for the energy to flow through. No totem is better than another! Each is part of the larger tapestry and as such all are powerful and important.

Some with Hawk medicine find they have difficulty attracting the "right life Partner". Hawk people may find that they tend to attract more "earthy" types who find the Hawk person's need to "soar" disruptive or unimportant. This may occur because at a deeper level the Hawk person is fearful of soaring too high and crashing to earth Icarus like. In this instance, the Hawk person's real issue is one of learning how to trust themselves and their medicine. Hawk people can pair well with more earth centered people because the earthy person can encourage the Hawk person to stay on earth long enough to bring some of their visions and ideas to fruition before soaring off to the Heights again. It can be very easy for hawk people to want to stay high above the earth and never bring their wonderful ideas back to earth where they and others can put them practice.
Since Hawks mate for life, the Hawk Person may need to accept that it may take them some time before they find the person meant for them yet when they do, it is well worth the wait! Otherwise the Hawk person may find themselves tied to someone and unable to free themselves easily because of the deep entanglements they have created with this other person. Especially if children are involved in the relationship, the Hawk person may feel an extra strong sense of duty to stay in the relationship for the "sake of the children" as in many cases I have seen where the Hawk person ended up as the sole provider for the family . What the Hawk person needs is someone who can accept and honour their gifts and talents, giving them the space they need to soar high above.

In the Celtic tradition Hawk empowers a person to seek out their ancestral roots and to examine in depth that which is positive so that it may be integrated into the person's life and that which is limiting so it can be released. Tradition is only worth honoring when it supports joy and fulfillment in one's life! In this tradition Hawk also supports the solar side as stated above, helping a person to move forward in life and to seek out great quests to embark upon.

In the Egyptian Tradition Hawk was associated with Magic and shapeshifting. Isis is said to have shapeshifted into a Hawk to save Osiris. Horus also carried Hawk medicine which allowed him to see the "unseeable".

Among Native American traditions, Hawk served the role of Mercury, bringer of messages and portents of change. Hawk reminded the people they needed to be awake and aware.

One of the greatest gifts a Hawk medicine person can give the world is their visions of a better and brighter future. Visionaries are always ahead of their time and it's not easy seeing what others are not ready to see. Often these people are not honoured and recognized for their work and efforts until long after they have crossed over. And yet their work lives on to touch and enrich the lives of people the world over! Honour the Hawk people you meet in your life. Encourage them to soar so they may bring their visions and messages back to earth that all may benefit. If you are a Hawk person yourself, understand that Spirit can you an especial task to hold the energy of what could be, of potentials that are waiting to be envisioned and thus expressed through the mass consciousness. Seek out other Hawk people who can support you in your life and never allow others to cause you to lose sight of what is really important to you! Trust in the messages that Spirit entrusts to your special care and know that the expression of your visions will bring blessings not only to you, but also to all others!

Here is a brief expression of three specific Hawk medicines:

Red Tailed Hawk - An intensified Life force, often those who carry this Hawk medicine have Pluto and Mars strong in the horoscope. These folks are able to achieve great things through persistence and sheer strength of will. This Hawk can also help a person understand and overcome obstacles to prosperity and abundance.

Harris Hawk - represents cooperation and support from others. Libra or Venus may be strong in the horoscope or Venus in Aquarius or in the 11th house. A more Mercurial/Virgo aspect is also prominent with this medicine, also the North Node in Virgo or the 11th house. This Hawk helps one to spread the word about goals or projects to those people who can be helpful for you. For those who use music to help them soar high above, this is a wonderful totem to be working with as it helps to integrate music and sound as a healing modality.

Sparrowhawk - Awareness that opportunities that seem small on the surface have the potential for great growth and expansion over time. This Hawk helps us to see through to the heart of events and synchronicities that are trying to lead us to our greater goals and higher good. So often we ignore the smaller things in life because we can't see how they could possibly be of much use to us or help us to resolve a problem. Yet when we soar high above to see where they fit in the larger scheme of things, we see how they are a jumping off point that if it were not presented to us and pursued, we could not reach that we are truly seeking."

2007 Mission Statement [21 Mar 2007|10:42pm]
This whole process of 2007 has been quite amazing to watch and observe. Anything more and it becomes overwhelming. When I participate it comes out in full force. I need to be careful of this. Good when participating in goodness but while still expelling those leftover strains of negativity i've noticed i can really get caught up in it and swept away down the spiral highway into the land of stories and wrongness. Christabel's words of wisdom have been both life-changing and cell-shifting - she really has bitten off a big piece of raw spirit food and is taking on the response-ability to digest well n good. I'd like to spend more 3D time getting to know her but it seems that this must wait until i return to the States. All in its own time I guess. My own blogging has been focused on limited but selective notes and observations. Mercury in Scorpio has felt resistant to reveal or even explore and interpret beyond the confines of the mind. Hmmm. Well that says it all! We are about to move house again and again i can feel the tide turning. I made a vow today to the Scorpion to believe in him beyond the beyond - the challenge has been set. We dropped off the first of our stuff to the new rancho deluxo and ALL that space is just pouring out one big affirmation of YESness - we have been delivered exactly what we asked for: terrace, 3-4 bedroom, storage space, attic, floorboards, bath (BATH!!)... we have been gifted well. I can see us living there for some time creating and prospering and loving and living healthy and happy lives - the scorpion, tim, puska and me. I can see lots of guests and parties and daytime activities and the hoop biz going off. There is so much hoop space its almost obscene! Should i relocate Burning Man to my living room? And yes, the calling is back on. I am receiving many emails and 3D requests to return yet again. I have also been given an insight on how to do this without breaking my back and bank. This year is about redefining limits and boundaries and expectations and reward. It's about knowing exactly what i want and how to get it - obviously this goes beyond the physical plane. This year is about growing the HOOP EMPIRE and being able to gift more time and energy to the Scorp. It is about knowing who i am beyond all my roles and gifting myself more time and energy to simply BE and play. It needs to be more about writing too and creative development of ALL the projects. I can sense my role in the biz is becoming more directorial and overseeing. I am still in it for some more stage action and am determined to take my performance to the next level but i am also intent on being selective in what i give my energy to and how i expend it within and outside of myself. This year is about cleaning my act up once and for all and nailing the healthy body mind spirit that i have been craaaaaaving for such a long time. This year is about dance - Spirited Movement. This year's proposed travel destinations include Berlin, Burning Man, Hong Kong, Shanghai. I am also aware that some of these destinations may need to back-burned until i have developed the business to a point of full flourish while i am away. This year is about being patient but persistent, clear and concise, conscious and healthy, compassionate and caring and non-judgemental of all that is. Most of all, this year is about CREATIVE WORK that will set the foundation for a prosperous NOW and FOREVER MORE in all that i do. I hope to be able to open these opportunities to those around me too. This year is about HAWK MEDICINE.

"I was listening to Reverand Michael Beckwith this morning in the gym... He asked two amazing questions: "are you ready to take complete responsibility for everything that has happened in your life right now?" and "what is your payoff for being a victim?"

Michael discussed the mistake of allowing things outside ourselves to determine how we feel inside. He spoke of how consensus reality agrees that outside determines inside, but that we have a choice about what reality we choose to live in! We can create an inner, spiritual reality which is about connection to the infinite. We can create a new vibration and become high frequency, positive beacons of what is possible beyond the limiting belief systems of being "merely human"."

NIA Dance Classes [27 Feb 2007|02:29pm]
I felt it on the dance floor on Sunday night. Even tho I was on a mission to get drunk (!) i couldn't help but notice how much more aware of my body's movement I was... and after just one class! Highly recommend.

-------- Original Message --------
Subject: Nia, Movement Meditation, Spirited Movement - New classes for 2007
Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2006 12:10:24 +1100

Hi Everybody,

The main benefit of these workout classes:
We work every muscle group and facilitate more body awareness to reduce the chances of muscle injury, misuse or overuse. It also means that everyday problems such as headaches, pain, and muscle rigidity can be resolved. You will notice the difference as you begin to float in your pelvis, and rib cage, and as you become more lyrical and free in your daily movements. The environment is accepting and everybody is welcome. The workouts are designed to be user-friendly to your body and adjustable for everybody. Lastly, we are a super-wonderful bunch of people to move with :)

Nia Techique
Fusion of awesome music with both high and low energy movements. Freedance included. Offers a cardiovascular workout for all muscle groups both major and minor and improves balance, stability, flexibility, coordination, tension release, and the pleasure of living in your body.
Course structure: 6 x 1hour classes. Warm up, cardio workout, cool down.
Next course: January 15th - Feb 19th. Mondays 6:45pm - 7:45pm, Miller Street, North Sydney.
Cost: $90 for 6 weeks, must be prepaid. (note: Class runs only providing minimum attendee number is met)
Casual rate: $17 per class.

Spirited Movement
Dynamic combination of cardiovscular workout with Eastern movement practices (i.e Sacred Dance, Kum Nye, Yoga). The cardiovascular workout is much like Nia, and is followed by strengthening and rejuvenation poses to give you the best of East and West. Benefits include those listed above for Nia as well as:
Reduced muscle tension, back pain, headaches and other symptoms of postural imbalance and muscle weakness
Release of unconscious muscle 'holding' which creates tension and effort in your movement
More ease, calm and gracefulness in your movement
More body awareness and sensational joy!
Course structure: 6 x 1.5 hour classes. Moving meditation, warm up, cardiovascular workout, warm down, Kum Nye style strengthening poses, rejuvenation poses, savasana.
Next course: January 18th - 22nd February. Thursdays 6:45 - 8:15pm, Darlinghurst Primary School Barcom Ave, Darlinghurst.
Cost: $90 for 6 weeks, must be prepaid. (note: Class runs only providing minimum attendee number is met)
Casual rate: $17 per class.

Special: Register for one term and receive 30% credit toward the other course. (Applicable to full term payments)

Movement Meditation
Suitable for Pregnancy. A new daytime class is scheduled to run in the City Apothecary Yoga Studio CBD on Wednesdays. Please let me know if you are interested and i will forward information. Movement Meditation uses movement to come into the body and increases sensation, joy and feeling in your body. It is low impact in general however you are welcome to move at a higher intensity if that's where your body is at. It calms the mind, increases grace in movement and clears the chakras.
Next evening course of Movement Meditation TBC. There is movement meditation incorporated in the Spirited Movement workout as a cool down and body connection exercise.

One-on-one movement for therapy classes
I run personal movement sessions at the City Apothecary Yoga Studio for those who wish to personalize a movement program. This is fabulous therapy for poor posture, pain, muscular weakness, poor flexibility and other body issues. One hour sessions are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11am-7pm.

Workshops for 2007 - Some yummy work to keep you moving to your higher potentials.
Upcoming workshops for 2007 include:

The Five Stages of Self Healing (highly recommended!)
The Healing Arts of Nia
Woman Moves
Breathwork & Dance (Co-taught with Divyamani)
Bellydance & Sacred movement (Co-taught with Kara)

No pre-requisites neccessary for any of these workshops. Stay tuned as I will give more info in the new year.

For those of you who don't know I practice Naturopathy in the CBD and also in Bondi Junction, and would be delighted to hear from you if you have a health concern or would like to improve your current state of wellbeing with natural medicine.
